The Strategies 1. Basics OK, I'll start off by telling you what does what. Left and Right = turning Z = Tuck (makes you gain speed faster) A = Jump (The longer you hold the higher you go) B = When in air, combine B with a combination of directions for a trick (see Trick Commands, I3) Up = Gives you a boost at start of a track/when you fall(see helpful hints; I2, or Secrets, III6) R = When in air, combine R with a combination of directions for a spin (see Spin Commands, I4) C-Up = Changes Views C-Down = Looks behind you Match Race = Race a set of tracks.. Normal; Crystal Lake, Crystal Peak, Golden Forest and Mountain Village, Hard; All of the tracks in normal, plus Dragon Cave, Expert; All the tracks in hard, plus Deadly Fall Time Attack Mode = See how fast of a time you can get on any course you've gotten so far. Trick Attack Mode = See how many points you can rack up from tricks on courses. 2. Helpful Hints First of all, you should NEVER hold the Z (duck) button all the time. I used to do that, thinking I would go faster. It DOESN'T make you go faster, just makes you accelerate faster. So once you're full speed, dont duck. And I would always press and hold up, thinking it would make me go faster. It didn't. Up just gives you a boost at the beginning of the track or when you fall down. When you go off of a jump, you can also press and hold Z right before you land for a smooth landing.. Also, when/if you get the Panda Boarder, his panda tweak (Do a 540°, with the Panda it does a Panda Tweak - Same points as a 720°, but easier, and faster (ie you can do much more Panda Tweaks in the air) 3. Grab Commands (All preformed in the air) Melancholy(or Lien Air, depending on Boarder) = B. Indy(Or Tweak, depending on Boarder) = right+B. Nose Grab = up+B. Tail Grab = down+B Indy Nosebone = left-down+B. Mute Grab = up-right+B. Method = left+B. Stiffy = up-left+B Stalefish = down-right+B. 4. Spin Commands (all these commands can be turned around, ie instead of R+left, R+roll your control stick from left down to right, for a 360°, you could do R+right, R+roll from right to left, etc) 180° = R+left. 360° = R+left, R+roll stick from left to right. 540° = R+left, R+roll stick from left to right, R+left. 720° = R+left, R+roll stick from left to right, R+roll stick from left to right+B 900° = R+left, R+roll stick from left to right, R+roll stick from left to right+B, R+left+B 1080° = R+left, R+roll stick from left to right, R+roll stick from left to right+B, R+roll stick from left to right+B+Z II. The Boards and Boarders 1. Boarders Kensuke Kimachi = My all time favorite boarder, balanced in everything. Rob Haywood = Most other people's favorite boarder, pretty good actually. Akari Hayami = I tink she's basicly good for nothing, except maybe stunts. Dion Blaster = Fast as heck! if you wanna rip the course up, pick him. Ricky Winterborn = The stunt kid. He's only good for stunts, but boy does he do 'em well! 2. Boards Tahoe 151 = Favorite board. Good for racing. Merlot 147 = an ok board, I guess, even though it has some of the worst stats. B-Line = a so-so board. I'd still go with a Tahoe. Scout 156 = Great board, actually. Not as good as any Tahoe though. Tahoe 155 = Slightly different than the Tahoe 151, better for stunts. Scout Limited 162 = Nice board also. only thing that tops it are Tahoes. Merlot 143 = Board with the worst stats. B-Line 154 = its an ok board, average stats. 3. Boarder Stats (Tech = technique, max = max speed, bal = balance. The max stats are 10) Kensuke Kimachi = tech-8, max-8, bal-6, power-7, jump-6 Rob haywood = tech-8, max-9, bal-7, power-6, jump-6 Akari Hayami = tech-8, max-5, bal-9, power-3, jump-8 Dion Blaster = tech-4, max-10, bal-5, power-8, jump-4 Ricky Winterborn = tech-10, max-4, bal-7, power-4, jump-10 4. Board Stats (ec = Edge Control, ac = acceleration, re = response, st = stability, fl = flex. Max stat is 10) ec-Better control and turning. ac-How fast the board will accelerate. re-How fast the board will respond to your turning. st-How stable the board is. fl-How stiff the board is. High flex is good for stunts, low flex for racing. Tahoe 151 = ec-9, ac-10, re-10, st-9, fl-7 Marlot 147 = ec-5, ac-6, re-6, st-6, fl-5 B-Line 149 = ec-8, ac-7, re-6, st-6, fl-6 Scout 156 = ec-8, ac-8, re-8, st-6, fl-6 Tahoe 155 = ec-9, ac-10, re-10, st-9, fl-8 Scout Limited 162 = ec-8, ac-8, re-8, st-7, fl-9 Merlot 143 = ec-5, ac-6, re-5, st-6, fl-4 B-Line 154 = ec-8, ac-7, re-6, st-6, fl-6 III. The Tracks 1. Crystal Lake A good beginners tracks, one of my favorites. You can just rip the rcourse up once you become better at 1080° Snowboarding. Theres a semi-secret jump too. After the big jump, there'll be a cabin on your right, and one on your left. The one on the right is a shortcut, (See shortcut section, IV1.) the one on the left has a jump to the right of it. 2. Crystal Peak Not much to it, but you can get some good tricks off the moguls near the end. A fun track, but not any secrets I know of. No secret ramps, just a plain course. Harder than Crystal Lake, provides challenge sometimes, even for me. 3. Golden Forest This track is really fun! You go through a forest, lots of powder. Though sometimes the powder combined with the trees in it slows the game down. Take a left first, jump the log, come out into the powder, dodge the trees. after another intersection, take the right again, but this time duck the log, than jump over the second one. When you get to the lake, go on the ice, or take a shortcut. (See shortcut section, IV3.)All downhill from there, baby! 4. Mountain Village A sweet course! maybe funner than Golden Forest. first off go up the little ramp to the left, and drop into the little passage. After you come out, go in the house. Jump off the ramp, you skip most of the moguls and catch major air. Dodge the boulders any way you see fit, when you come to the cave, go right, than right again. On the second right, stay to the left wall, and you'll come out of a semi-secret passage. Same as going right, than left but alot faster. Than just go downhill, dodge the 3 cars, and there ya go! Victory. 5. Dragon Cave This is the course I can really rip it up on, my favorite course. lots of shortcuts (See Shortcut section, IV5.) that cut off alot of time. OK, just go through the course as best as you can, if it's your first time try to stay on the upper level with the bridges. if, when entering a bridge, you wreck, its ok, happens to me all the time. next take a right than a left to insure you get down safely. If you go left and another left, theres a shortcut (See shortcut section, IV5. You're getting sick of this huh?) at the end of that, just jump in the cave. After all that is accomplished, go along until near the very end theres a cabin. go in it at all costs, if its a neck-and-neck race, it might just be enough to win. 6. Deadly Fall This course is awesome too! its so big with so many shortcuts I cant begin to explain them all. If you wanna know them all look at shortcut section, IV6. For a huge jump, which I got a 30,000 point combo off of, go to the right at the first branchoff, than when theres a half-pipe type thing, jump off the very edge of that. you should land on a lower level. Than just go straight. When it look like you can branch off left for a bigger jump, dont, keep staying straight. If You're playing stunt mode, theres a checkpoint right at the jump. It's the biggest jump in the game, to my knowledge. If you're racing, just stay on the right. IV. The Shortcuts 1. Crystal Lake No big shortcuts, but after the jump, theres a cabin to the right. Branch toward it, and jump on the ramp. On that route, you'll cut of some time. 2. Crystal Peak No shortcuts that I know of, but when theres an intersection to go either left or right, go right. That's the biggest hint I have for you. 3. Golden Forest Stay to the left on the first two branch-offs! on the third where you can either go on the frozen river or the powder on the left, do neither, go right through the middle. there should be a big log. Snowboard accross that, onto the side up there. after that, there are rocks. Right before the rocks, cut off the track and go up the right, to the right of the trees. You pass the rocks without any trouble. Than go off the to finish line. 4. Mountain Village What can I say, at the beginning go left onto a little ramp, into the passage, than into the house. In the tunnel go right, than right, than stay to the left wall. When you see the street, you can either jump over it into the opening in the rails, or you can go along it, around the grass part. after that, if you stay to the right there are some houses you can jump on. Don't jump on them, go to the right of them. If you can get it, it's an easier way to the finish line. Not sure if it's faster though. 5. Dragon Cave ok, when you start off, theres orange poles. After the last orange poll, go left, up the little bank. than keep going, and you'll see some rails, and an openng. go between the opening, and land back on the track. after that you can jump inbetween the two signs, cutting off lots of time, except now you're on the bottom which isn't a walk in the park. Or, you could stay on the track and go across the bridge, than take two lefts, and jump into the cave. At the end, go into the little house. There's your key to victory. 6. Deadly Fall Let's see, where should I start. Go right on at the first branch, and keep going straight into the little ice tunnel type thing. Or, when you go on the right, try as hard as you can to stay on the VERY RIGHT, as in the teeny strip of snow on the side. That's the best shortcut. Another one I found was take a branch to the right, than when you can go left to the little snow halfpipe thingy. og along and stay on the left, and soon there'll be an opening in the wall. Go into it, very hard, but if you do it cuts off valuable seconds. Not really worth it. Another is go left, and jump off of one of the moguls onto the ledge on the right. Great shortcut, and fun also. I can't say you'll win but this should help you. V. The Secrets 1. Crystal Boarder Beat match race on expert, select Akari Hayami, and when her stats come up, press and hold c-left, than press A. If it worked there should be a picture of a crystal head when selecting your board. 2. Metal Boarder Beat match race in expert with the Crystal Boarder to unlock the Metal Boarder. Select Kensuke Kimachi, when his stats come up, hold c-up and press A. If it worked there should be a picture of a gold head when selecting your board. 3. Penguin Board Do every trick in Practice Mode. This means using more than one boarder, because some boarders do other tricks than others. You dont have to do the Panda Tricks though. You do have to do the 1080°s. Doesn't have to be in one turn. You can also cheat the practice mode, and make it think you did a 1080°. that's later in the tricks section. 4. Panda Boarder Beat every single top score in time attack, trick attack, and contest mode high scores. And you have to have every track. And have beat it on expert mode in match race. Than select Rob Haywood, when his stats come up, hold c-right, and press A. If it worked there should be a picture of a panda head when selecting your board. His tricks are as follows= Back Flip = R+down Front Flip = R+up One Foot = B+down Panda Tweak = Do a 540°, it does a 260° panda Tweak instead of a 540° Panda Roll = right before you hit the ground do a Front or Back Flip. More of a fun thing than an actual trick. 5. Cheat on tricks in Practice Mode Go into training mode with any character, and do a simple trick. Next, pick that trick in the trick list, and do that trick. than, press c-right and go to the trick you can't do. When you land it'll say you did that trick. 6. Boost? When you start a race, press up, and you'll get a little boost. When you fall, than get up, press up and you'll get a boost again. 7. Control the Opening Camera When the demo is playing when you start the 1080°, press c-up. Now move the control stick around. As a bonus, It shows your saved replay (if you have one) after the demo. 8. Other It shows your saved replay after the demo. When in the half pipe, immediately make a left or right turn than jump. You should get MAJOR air. During the replay of the Half Pipe, move the control stick for record scratches. VI. The Contacts 1.
