AMERICAN GLADIATORS by Adam Schiller The always awesome show comes to your SNES system with all the sporting action that you could wish for. In the many events, there are varied controls and actions. See the descriptions below for each event. ASSAULT Points Awarded: 1 per weapon fired, 5 for a hit on the red part of the target, 10 for a hit on the white (bullseye) piece of target. Obeject: Hit the target above the gladiator using the various weapons. Time Allotted: 60 seconds Use the directionals to move your contender around the assault arena/area. When you arrive at a gun station, press A. You will move to a close-up view of the gun station. Move the contender to the weapon while avoiding the shots fired by the gladiator. Press R to grip the weapon. Fire using the A button, and aiming using the map given in the upper right hand corner of the screen. After a shot is fired, press L to drop the weapon. Move your contender out from behind the station using left or right on the directional pad. Continue on to the next station, and the next, and so on. You can earn 5 points if you fire all weapons unsuccessfully, and cross the finish line in the top right hand corner of the arena. HUMAN CANNONBALL Points Awarded: 10 for knocking the gladiator off their pedestal. Object: Swing yourself into the gladiator with enough force and aim to knock them off of their pedestal. Time Allotted: None Watch the power meters located in the top left hand corner of the screen. (The left one is power, the right one is aim). When the rightermost meter is in the desired position, press A to stop it. Then wait for the left one to be in the position desired, and press A to stop that. You get one try, and if you happen to knock the gladiator off of the pedestal, your job has been done. ATLASPHERE Points Awarded: 1 per score Object: Guide your atlasphere into the scoring pods located around the arena. Time Allotted: 60 seconds Use the directional pad to control your atlasphere around the arena. (Note that momentum is a key factor). Guide your atlasphere into a scoring pod and settle into it. Smoke shall arise should you have set it off. During this time, gladiators try to block you from scoring. Also, watch out for your opponent! JOUST Points Awarded: 10 points for knocking the gladiator off their pedestal. Object: Using a pugil stick, pound the gladiator into submission! Time Allotted: 45 seconds Use the A, B, Y, and X buttons combined with directionals to hit the opposing gladiator. Watch your power meter and theirs (near backs of fighters), for when one's runs out, you will fall to your knees in defeat. POWERBALL Points Awarded: 1 point for outside buckets, 2 points for center bucket. Object: Place soccer balls in canisters while avoiding the ruthless gladiators. Time Allotted: 60 seconds Control your player around the powerball course using the directionals. Press A when near a bucket containing balls (located at the top and bottom of the area) to pick a ball up. While holding a ball, find a canister to place it in and do this by press ing the A button when near one. Continue down to the other side to pick up another ball, and continue the drill. However, if you get tackled, pushed, or otherwise beat up by a/many gladiators, you will lose your ball and must continue on. Try fighting back (when you have a ball) with a punch by pressing Y. WALL Points Awarded: 10 points for reaching the top of the wall first, 5 points for reaching the top second. Object: Reach the top of the wall while avoiding the gladiators. Time Allotted: 30 seconds Starting out at the bottom of the wall, you must control yourself to reach the top of the wall, using the handgrips. Press Y rapidly to move, while also using the directionals to control which way to move. Note that you cannot move where there are no handgrips. Watch out for the persuing gladiators that try to pull you down off the wall. ELIMINATOR Points Awarded: Variable, depending on time of finish. Object: Escape the Eliminator by climing, running, avoiding, and ziplining yourself past the obstacle course of death. Time Allotted: 60 seconds Run your contender up treadmills, across handbikes, past blocking dummies, up cargo nets, down a zipline, over hurdles, and past a gladiator in order to finish. Run by pressing L and R alternating rapidly. Press B to jump over the hurdles, and push the gladiator out of the way using the running control. INTERESTED IN THE GLADIATORS?
