/\/'s EARLY FAQ: 1.91a (assistance would be appreciated) KEIO YUGEKITAI by JVC IMPORT Sega Saturn 2D Platform/2D Shooter; Variable Difficulty; Variable Data Save Note from /\/ightshade: Don't castrate me if this FAQ seems a little incomplete and small. It's an early version, that I decided to release early. Import games that are completely in Japanese can be tough to understand so I figured this might help people out who just got the game. Anyone who is thinking about getting this game, quit wasting time. Just order the game. To put things in perspective, I like this game more than any other game available on the Sega Saturn, Sony Playstation, and even Nintendo 64. Yup, I'm a ham for 2D games like this. The art and music are worth the price alone! THE PLOT: Errrrr... Ya know, I'll tell ya later. Right now, if you're playing the game then you know about as much as me (cool anime intro)! After winning, I guess everyone is after those weird orbs with the stars in it (Dragonball rip off!) to bring to life a demon who can open up a hidden vault filled with gold. I bet the FMV tells a lot of plot, but I can't understand any of it... Bummer. START MENU (not translated): START GAME (duh) CONTINUE (only after getting toasted in a later stage and quitting) OPTIONS (change options) TEXT (in-game hints and junk! It'll give pointers in Japanese pertaining to the highest stage you have gotten to. Comes with pictures!) OPTIONS MENU: (not translated either): CONTROL (Default is: A = Pick-up/toss; B = Use weapon; C = Jump) RUN (Either hold D-pad, double tap D-pad, or L/R Shift buttons to run) DIFFICULTY (Monkey/Normal/Hard) SOUND (Stereo/Mono) DATA SAVE (On/Off; Saves last data of highest stage achieved) EXIT (duh) GAME OVER Screen (You'll know it when you see it): The wooden sign on the left is normally on "Continue." To quit, press left or right on the D-pad, and any button. GAME SCREEN: Upper left side of screen in blue letters is your lives (sorta easy to pick up on number). Below that is the number of bunnies you've collected. Upper right side of screen is still a puzzle to me! CONTROLS (assuming default not changed): Platform: A = Picks up anything not nailed to ground. Press again to throw. B = Uses whatever weapon you have at the time (see "Stuff") C = Jumps... Yup. Rami jumps. Down + A = Put down object where you stand. Up + B = Toss weapon. Opens umbrella. Down + C = Jump down a level (when possible) (while holding object) B = Makes certain objects do things. (while holding object) Left + A = Throw item in direction you're facing. Roller Coaster: B = Jump Underwater: C = Stroke. Go up, and faster in direction you wanna go. Flying: A, B, C = All shoot! STUFF: Platform: Kappa = He's the little green imp you run into a lot. You can use him as a springboard, and you can even pick him up and carry him. Boxes = Small brown boxes when hit spill their often cool contents. Bunnies = Collect these ultra-cute things for lives. Rami Head = Gives Rami another life. Hidden all over the place. Eggplant Man = An eggplant. Let's you continue when you die! Dragon Head = Go to BONUS STAGE after beating level! Mallet = Big pink mallet is used to beat opponents. Time Bombs = Bombs with numbers on the side that count down. When the counter reaches 0, look out! You an pick up and toss these! Booby Traps = Two sticks and a string. If you trip one, look out! Umbrella = Weapon, and tool. Press Up and B to open. It protects you from falling boulders, and helps you float. Bow & Arrow = Press and hold B to build power. Aim with D-pad. Let go of B when you want to fire. Unlike carrying a throwing object, when you're carrying a weapon you can still climb up ladders. You can also pick up objects while carrying a weapon. As long as you are carrying something, you can take one hit (two if you have a weapon and an object). It's always good to carry something. If you're hit, use the period of invulnerability to pick up anything on the screen! Flying: P Block = Powers up your dragon fire. Weapon Block = Changes from star to dragon. Stars fire in opposite direction of the last direction you pushed, and cause big damage. Dragons fire at an upward and downward angle. They also chase after opponents, and are better for multiple small enemies. Stage 1-1 (Forest): When you start the stage off on the easier settings, there will be a box to the left of your starting position with a mallet in it... GET IT! Here's where you familiarize yourself with the controls. Once you get used to how Rami jumps, you'll be much better at stomping bad guys. Pick up Kappa and use him to get to the bunnies out of reach. You'll want to pick up as many as you can, because they'll earn you more lives. Also get used to Rami's throwing arch. It's a little strange, so you'll want to target practice on the dumb raccoons who probably are still asleep. Stage 1-2 (Mines): Another great place to practice. It has several hidden caves (most stages do). Since there's no stupid time-limit, explore like mad! On the second vertical shaft, boulders will rain on top of you. Use that paper umbrella to protect yourself (hey, it's a game)! When you come across what looks to be a dead-end, look on the ground. You'll see grates with wind blowing out of them. Open up your umbrella and ride the wind! If you ride the wind up the first tunnel, push to the right to find a secret room! When you run into those goofy statues, you'll notice a peg to the left of them. Hit them, and run under the statues (duh). There's one well-hidden room with tons of bunnies after a few big shafts (use umbrella to float past them). You can ride the wind up a shaft, and push left and find it. It's not all that tough to find though. Once you're ready to leave the mines, you'll find they end at a cliff with a river down below. Just take a blind leap! Stage 1-3 (Battle Over The River): Anyone who's played a 2D shooter, knows what to do. One hidden powerup is hidden under the raft of some sailor-pigs. After blasting the porkers, fly into the bottom of the boat to collect. And remember, sharks have been known to jump out of the water to catch their prey. Stage 1-4 (Sumo Arena): Ahhh... Sumo. I love Sumo. I guess Rami does too because she decided to take part in the main event. The boss's first incarnation is easy to beat. Just run up to him and smack him. If he spits out a mini version of him, wail it too. After a few hits, he'll float up and start to change. You'd best start smacking him while he's still in the air. Right on the knee! His final incarnation is wimpy too! Stay away when he's spinning. Too much spinning, and he'll turn colors and hurl on the mat. That's when you smack him. Do that enough times and he's a goner, and you've beaten the first world! Stage 2-1 (Caves): Upon entering the volcanic caves, go to the left to find some boxes with several weapons (I suggest getting the mallet). Go right, and jump on the train. The train is built so the coal-car (second car) is lower than the rest. If you come to a low ceiling, duck down on this car to keep your head. Mid-way through the stage you'll come to lava flows. They are slow and come in VERY predictable intervals. You can usually wait for a flow to drop, and run past it. Be sure to search the WHOLE stage carefully, because there are lots of bunnies and an extra life! After the final train ride, you'll come to the end house. Don't go in quite yet. If you have a Kappa with you, use him to get on the arch and jump on top of the house to get a very easy extra life. Stage 2-2 (House of The Beckoning Cats): No brainer. Hit the switch, and use the statues to nail the hanging drums. Once you pound them all, you'll get an orb just in time to be nabbed by Tanooki's giant mechanical crab. Stage 2-3 (Tanooki Airship): This stage is pretty big, but not all that difficult if you take your time. There are several rooms that lock up, and you have to do something in order to get out. The 1st room is easy. Raccoons drop from the pipes, and all you have to do is beat them all up. The second room is a puzzle which anybody should solve. Pick up the hand, and use the B button to make it press the button in the upper-right of the room. Press it fast enough, and the door opens. The 3rd room just requires you to toss all the blocks on the floor in the open hands as fast as you can. Something to keep an eye out for are the conveyor spikes. On the back part of some conveyor belts, there are little sharp spikes on them. Just avoid them, and you're set. On the outside stages, just keep running into the wind while avoiding the raccoons who are having trouble fighting the wind. Stage 2-4 (Tanooki's Tea Boss): Talk about weird... It's weakness is it's big bald head. Pick up a weapon from one of the boxes on the left and then climb the ladder up. When the boss rolls close enough, jump on it's head. When it's yelling in pain, run to the right where you'll see Kappa. Just keep bouncing off of Kappa and onto the head of the boss. After a while, you won't be able to hit it. Just sit back, and wait for it to destroy itself. Stage 3-1 (Roller Coaster): This stage moves fast, so you'll have to really pay attention. For the most part, you want to be read to leap over any gaps when the "!" cursor pops up. Whenever you see a track above you, jump onto it. There's always more power-ups on the upper route (and a extra life). When you see another cart with raccoons in it either stomp on it or jump over them. Towards the end you'll lose control of the cart, and fly into the giant aquarium which happens to be the next stage. Stage 3-2 (Underwater): Rami goes swimming, and her only form of protection are giant bubbles that float out of boxes. It's a good idea to always have a bubble around you, so you can take one hit and survive. Just explore the entire area and you're bound to find all the bunnies and a one-up. Stage 3-3 (Ghost House's Masked Terror): Something hideous is hiding behind all those masks, and it's up to Rami to deflate his ego. The first incarnation is simple to beat. Avoid his head, and stomp on his hands when they try to grab you. If he transforms into 3 fireballs, just avoid them until he changes back. His second form is easier. When he's floating around, a certain part of his face will flash, and then all his parts will fall off. Avoid all the parts, and try to hit the part that was flashing to hurt him. His final form is the easiest when you have the mallet or umbrella. He'll spit out coconut drinks at you. Just hit them and when he stops, pick them up and pelt him with the drinks. After you beat him, he'll reveal his true self and take off! Stage 4-1 (Retreat): Yup, it took me a little bit of time before I realized what was going on. Those raccoons are rather PO'ed at Rami, so she should REALLY try and run away! Just keep running, and if you get hit pick up whatever weapon you were carrying! Near the end of the stage, you'll come across a line of boxes. Get the contents of all the boxes if you are far enough ahead of the mob. The last one has a continue, and the 4th to last one has a Dragon Head. Stage 4-2 (Clockwork House): Take your time when navigating this stage. On some floors you'll notice strange colored floorboards. Those are trapdoors that dump you to the lower level. Just jump over them, as you avoid ninjas and crushers. You can run under crushers, or jump on them and run over them. When you get into the attic, there are several things you should know. The conveyor belts are run by hamsters (of course). If you kill a hamster, or find a dead belt you have to find the nearest wheel and run inside of it to charge the battery (you'll see the gauge next to the wheel). When you find a giant suspended steel ball, jump on it and you'll se arrows on the sides of the balls. Use the D-pad to make the ball swing to help you get across pits and break walls. When you come to the second steel ball that's hanging over a pit, jump into the pit and go down the stairs to find a box with an extra life in it. Stage 4-3 (Space Pirate's House): This is one weird-o boss. His house will start flying around while he drops bombs on you. Avoid the propellers and exploding bombs by staying middle of the roof. When the house is far overhead, pick up a bomb and throw it into the MIDDLE of the propellers. After you do it enough times, jet engines will appear. Run off to the right side of the house. A big pigeon on a stick will shoot out. If you can, try to bounce off of the pigeon and land on the top of the house. You can then bounce off of the pirate's head and his chicken's head until you beat him. The house will then take off into outer space. Stage 5-1 (Outer space): Vic Viper eat your heart out. In this cool side-scrolling shooter stage there are some things you should know. Some enemies act differently. The floating koalas, when shot throw a bunch of mini-koalas. Just avoid them, and you should be fine. Satellite dogs can't be killed, but when shot they change their course. Mailbox missiles (conspiracy fans were right) are fast but can't change their course. As long as you don't clip them, you can't be hurt by them. Volcanoes (have a silly elephant on them) are sometimes tough. Above both of them is a power-up that you want. Good timing are all that are needed to beat their pattern. The biggest threats on the way to the boss are the Drinking Birds. Shoot their head to get them moving, and when they are swing away from you, race past them. Stage 5-1 Boss: Even aliens want to beat Rami up. Fine, then I guess it's fair to beat up the alien too. It has three methods of attack. One is simple, where it shoots small missiles that you can easily shoot down while shooting it too. When he sends down a grappling arm and pulls some supplies up, be ready for its second method of attack. It shoots giant roasts at you. You can easily avoid or blow up the roasts while shooting it. If you shoot the alien enough, the bottom of the ship will break and the alien's legs will fall through (nice heels). It'll then spin around giant maces which are easy to avoid by traveling in a clockwise circle around the screen. The trouble is, the alien has backup. When three UFOs show up, try to blow up one of them so they can't do a delta attack (big bubble). As long as you avoid them, you should have no trouble wasting the alien. Showdown (Round 1): SNK, eat your heart out. You have a chance of fighting one of two enemies in the first round of battle. Either the mad priest or the mad bombmaker (sense a theme?). If you're lucky, you'll fight the bombmaker instead of the priest. The mad priest is tough to fight, because he's constantly floating around. When he opens up that's the time to stomp him. The bombmaker is easier, because you can stay away from him. Birds will fly overhead and drop bombs at you. Pick them up and throw them at the boss. When he spins his spear at you, run away and DUCK. For both, remember... when you get hit RUN LIKE MAD to get your weapon back!! Showdown (Round 2): Finally, a challenge. It's that weird-o girl from the intro and she has a new toy (after you ruined her first one). It has a real powerful fan on the front of it that can suck stuff in and blow it out. When ever something blows onto the screen (bomb or orb) pick it up and toss it at her ship. When the ship swoops at you, you can duck under it. After you hit it enough time, it'll go nuclear and you'll have all the orbs! Well, You'll have all the orbs until Tanooki runs in and takes them all. Stage 6-1 (Forest Fort): You wouldn't believe how many traps there are in this stage. Just avoid them, and maybe one of the raccoons will trip them for you. For the most part if you stick to the upper part of the stage, and just jumping down to pick up all the bunnies and weapons you should be fine. It's a good idea to always inch forward, because some boobytraps are hidden in the grass. If you hear a trap being triggered, move out and swing your weapon like crazy. Stage 6-2 (Internal Mayhem): Nothing beats being swallowed whole by a giant demon! Well, there'll be some screaming which become platforms. You should always stay on the top-most platform, and have a weapon when possible. The demon's heart will float around translucent (on a Sega Saturn too!). When it becomes opaque and gets large, jump DIRECTLY above it (so you don't get hit by it's orbs). If you hit it once, get up on the upper-most platform again, and get ready to jump on the new platforms. Continue to do this, without getting digested and you should defeat the heart. You'll then come to the top. Jump to the left and exit the demon. Now sit back and watch some fun anime FMV! ___________________________________________________________________________ *I could still use some help here...
