AUTHOR'S NOTE ========================================================================= 1. INTRODUCTION ========================================================================= The King of Fighters tournament continues in this new installment of SNK's hit fighting game. 1996 brings with it many improvements to the game, among them redrawn fighters and all-new backgrounds. This is the first time in a KOF tournament that a new team has been added, the nefarious Boss Team. Many of the regulars are back to dole out the punishment, and while some, like Heidern and Takuma, have left for good, they have been replaced by exciting new characters like Leona and Kasumi. Not only have some teams been rearranged, but Team USA is changed once again. This time, Iori Yagami is joined by Rugal's two former secretaries, Mature and Vice. Also to be found are two new bosses; Kagura, guardian of the power of Orochi, and Goenitz, a warrior who believes he can master Orochi power on his own. They take the place of last year's Saisyu Kusanagi and Omega Rugal. Despite all the changes, KOF '96 stays true to SNK's fighting spirit. The object of the game is to still select a pre-made team or assemble your own team of warriors and beat anyone who stands in your way, using your trademark special moves and the awesome Desperation attacks. Then, tackle the two bosses and prove to the world that you are the King of Fighters! ========================================================================= 2. HOW TO PLAY ========================================================================= O O O Jump Back Jump Up Jump Forward \ | / O-- O --O Defend/Retreat Neutral Advance / | \ O O O Defensive Crouch Crouch Offensive Crouch This ASCII art joystick is used to show how each move is performed. All attacks listed in this FAQ are done while facing right. If you are facing left, reverse the motions to correctly perform an attack. L R Taunt Power Collect X Y Z Weak Punch Weak Kick Emergency Evade Back A B C Strong Punch Strong Kick Strike Attack The button layout shown is the 'Simple' setting and can be changed in the Option mode during gameplay. ========================================================================= 3. THE TEAMS ========================================================================= Although each team consists of three members, you must pick each member individually (you can no longer select entire teams like you could in earlier KOF games). While making a team of your favorite characters can be fun to play with, using the 'pre-made' teams are the only way to see the game's various endings. ========= HERO TEAM ========= KYO KUSANAGI ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Japanese Name: Hachi Tetsu English Name: Forged Iron Move Command: O-- or --O + C (near) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Japanese Name: Issetsu Seoi Nage English Name: Burden of the Lone Temple Throw Move Command: O-- or --O + C (near) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Japanese Name: HyakuJuuYon Shiki: AraGami English Name: Style No. 104: Wild Bite Move Command: | \ --O + A O O Hits (Light): 1 Comments: Follow with 128: Ku Kizu or 127: Ya Sabi. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Japanese Name: HyakuNiJuuHachi Shiki: Ku Kizu English Name: Style No. 128: Nine Wounds Move Command: | \ --O + A / C O O Hits (Light): 1 Hits (Heavy): 1 Comments: Follow with Migiri Ugachi or 125: Nana Se. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Japanese Name: I-HyakuNiJuuNana Shiki: Ya Sabi English Name: Self-(taught) Style No. 127: Eight Tarnish Move Command: --O \ | / O-- + A / C O O O Hits (Light): 1 Hits (Heavy): 1 Comments: Follow with Migiri Ugachi or 125: Nana Se. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Japanese Name: Ge Shiki: Migiri Ugachi English Name: Outside Style: Time Drill Move Command: Press A / C Hits (Light): 1 Hits (Heavy): 1 Comments: Overhead. There are four requirements in order for the Assistance Attack to work: 1. Your Life Gauge must be at 50% or lower. 2. You must be dizzy or being in a grab/repeated attack. Grabs include Chang's Kusari Jime or Choi's Zujo Sashi, while repeated attacks include Kensou's RyuRenDa or Joe's BakuRetsuKen. 3. You must have an undefeated teammate left in your party, and you must be near them (they have to be on-screen) in order for this attack to work. That teammate must also have a friendly relationship with the character you're using. 4. If your Life Gauge is lower than your opponent's, or is _very_ low, that increases the chance of the attack working. And that's about it! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Japanese Name: Chikara Tame English Name: Power Collect (better known as Power-Up) Move Command: Hold A + B + C Comments: You are vulnerable to attacks while powering-up. GAME SECRETS ========================================================================= PLAY AS THE BOSSES (in any mode but Survivor) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- At the Member Select screen, hold Start (which makes your buttons have no effect) and enter this code: Up + Y, Right + A, Left + X, Down + B The screen will reappear, adding Chizuru Kagura to the right of Clark and Goenitz to the left of Athena. Also, the timer will reset. If you (or your opponent) had already selected a character before you entered this code, you will have to re-pick your members. Although you do not need to beat the game before using the code, keep in mind that you'll have to enter it each time you reset the game (it cannot be saved to memory, either). DEMO SELECT ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This trick lets you see either intermission, or even the ending, of any team. To activate it, you must play a game in TEAM PLAY and beat the game without losing a match (it's okay to lose a round). You must choose to save your game (vs. Goenitz) even if you already have one saved. You can beat the game on any difficulty setting. When the game ends, go to the Option menu and you'll see the DEMO SELECT option underneath EXIT. Remember, you can only see the demos of a team you've beaten the game with, so you'll have to complete a TEAM PLAY game with each team to get all the demos. Also, you cannot play a previously saved game to get a demo. SECRET TEAMS ------------------------------------------------------------------------- You have to put in the Boss Code (see above) to play with the secret teams, which both have their own intermissions/endings. The first team is the 'God's Caliber Team', which consists of Kagura, Kyo, and Iori (any order). The second team is the 'Goenitz Team', which consists of Goenitz and two other characters (with the exception of Kagura). DISABLE SURVIVOR MODE ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Simply press Start on the second controller when you're at the Mode Select screen to disable Survivor (which can only be played by one person). ALTERNATE BEGINNING POSES ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some characters will perform different poses before a round starts, depending on who they are fighting. The match-ups are: Terry vs. Geese, Clark vs. Ralf, or Kyo vs. Iori. The setup can be reversed as well (i.e. Iori vs. Kyo). PREVENT POWER GAUGE CHARGING ------------------------------------------------------------------------- For this trick to work, you'll have to set the controls to 'Simple'. When your opponent tries to manually power-up (or when you want to lower his Power Gauge), hold Back and hold down the Taunt button (Left Shift). Your character will continually start his taunt and interrupt it with another taunt, lowering your challenger's Power Gauge so fast that he cannot even charge it. This looks pretty funny (and is actually useful with some characters, like Benimaru). GAME SAVE ------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you lose a match while playing, let the continue timer count down. When it hits zero, you will be given an offer to save your battle against whatever team you were fighting. The only other time this appears is after the staff roll when you beat the game (you can save your game vs. Goenitz). If you have a saved game, then you will be prompted to load it after starting a new game. You can have one saved game in Team Play and Single Play at a time. KNOWN BUGS ------------------------------------------------------------------------- So far, four have been found: INFINITE DIZZY TRICK This happened to me only once, so I'm unsure of exactly how it works. What's interesting about it is that it is almost exactly like the infinite stun trick in Samurai Shodown 3. Here's what happened: It was a Yuri vs. Mai match. Yuri had no POW energy but did have less than two units of life (aka desperation). When I performed and connected with her second DM, the Flying Phoenix Kick, Yuri began kicking the air behind Mai, as if Mai was a few steps back. When she finished, Mai slid forward and became frozen in one frame of being dizzy (there was no sound effect). She did not recover, and I could move her around by walking around. It finally ended when I hit her with a special move (the Kooh-ken). I don't know what happens if time runs out or if you hit her with another DM or even the SDM, though. Although it's a long shot, I think this glitch has something to do with the way information is taken from the RAM cart during the game, simply because you can do a bug that is very similar to it in SS3, which also uses a RAM cart. Has this occurred to anyone else, or does anyone know a sure-fire way to make it happen? TEXT PROBLEM Play in any mode with an edited team (or use one of the bosses in Single Mode). Make sure the language is set to anything but Japanese. When you beat the game, you only get the first few lines of the ending ('these three heroes...' in English), but nothing else, and the game hangs. If you do beat the game with Japanese selected, then the game doesn't glitch. This means, unfortunately, that you can't save your position at Goenitz if you beat the game with an edited team (unless you're using Japanese). RUN BACKWARDS This also works on the arcade version of KOF '96. Run towards your opponent, then quickly tap up-back and return to holding forward. If you timing is correct, your character will continue to run forward, but he'll move backward until he's at the edge of the screen, still running. The run ends if you let go of forward, jump, or do any other motion. The timing on this is really hard and it'll take more than one try to get it to work. Funny, if not exactly useful. Keep in mind that you don't have to do the trick before you reach your opponent; you can just push against them while doing it. WATCH OUT, CHOI! This doesn't work with any other set of characters in the game, but: if Kim does his Strong Kick throw (the turning leg slam) against Choi, it does double damage. (It doesn't count as a double-hit move, but Choi's life drops once, then once again. Pretty strange. This also works in the arcade. ========================================================================= 5. GAME ENGINE ========================================================================= COMBOS ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Performing a combo (series of unblockable attacks) in KOF '96 is relatively simple: special moves can be done without having to two- in-one an attack or 'buffer' a special move. The only time when an attack is interrupted is when a special move takes the place of the second hit of a two-hit attack. Below are several examples of your typical KOF combos: Geese Howard <4-hit combo> Jumping SK, Standing SK (first hit), Strong Reppuken King <12-hit combo> Standing SK (both hits), Strong Surprise Rose, Strong Tornado Kick Ryo Sakazaki <7-hit combo> Standing LP x2, Kyokugen-ryuu Renbuken, Strong Koho Kasumi Todo <8-hit combo> Jumping SP (both hits), Tatsumaki Soda, Jumping SP (both hits) or Haku Zan Tou Choi Bounge <13-hit combo> Strong Hishou Kyaku, Strong Tatsumaki Shippu Zan Chang Koehan <3-hit combo> Jumping SK, Crouching SP (first hit), Tekkyu Hi En Zan Some of these are 'true' combos, like Geese or Chang's. Others, like Ryo, Kasumi, or King's are 'juggle' combos (juggling is explained in the next section). One is not better than the other, but many of the more damaging combos use juggles in them, although 'true' combos are easier to do. Overall, this section does not need much explanation because KOF has a very simple combo system that is easy to learn. JUGGLES ------------------------------------------------------------------------- A major part of KOF's combat engine is focused around juggles; attacks that repeatedly knock an opponent around without letting him recover or get a chance to retaliate. Unlike combos, juggles are moves that do not interrupt each other, but serve to keep an enemy in the air or serve to inflict extra damage without fear of retaliation. Most juggles use special moves one after another, instead of being mixed in with normal punches and kicks. The following list shows what characters can juggle with which moves, allowing you to experiment when you make your own juggle combos: KEY j = Jumping s = Standing c = Crouching \ = Followed by... DOUBLE-HITS ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Double-hits are normal attacks that hit twice, making them very useful in combos. In most cases, you can get both hits off of the double-hit, then do a special move, adding extra damage to your combo. A list of each character's double-hits is as follows: Strong Punch: ANDY CHANG CHIN (1) CHOI (2) CLARK GEESE (2) GOENITZ (3) KASUMI (1) KENSOU (3) KIM LEONA MATURE Mr. BIG (4) TERRY VICE Strong Kick: CHIN GEESE GOENITZ KIM (1) KING LEONA MATURE (5) ROBERT VICE (5) Weak Kick: MATURE (6) VICE (6) (1) Done while jumping. (2) Done while jumping; hits three times. (3) Done from further away. (4) Can be done from further away or done while jumping. (5) Can be done while standing or crouching. (6) Can be done while standing or jumping. Unless otherwise noted, all double-hits are done from up close while standing. MULTI-HITS ------------------------------------------------------------------------- A strange new addition to KOF '96 are multi-hits, moves that can hit more than one time by using joystick motions. It's a little confusing, but multi-hits cause a fair amount of damage and some can be comboed. To use a multi-hit, you cannot have a maxed out POW bar, nor can you be in 'desperation', or else you'll perform your characters' Desperation Move. The multi-hits are: CHANG KOEHAN a) Perform the following command when close to your opponent: | + Strong Punch, (release Strong Punch) O <Chang will fling his iron ball upwards> b) Then, quickly perform the following command during the animation frames of the initial Strong Punch: --O \ | / O-- + Strong Punch O O O <Chang will pause during the last frames of animation and the ball will register a second hit> Remember! Do both steps as quickly as possible. If you hesitate for too long after releasing SP, you won't be able to do the next motion in time for the second hit. Also, be sure to not let go while pressing down too early or you'll do a standing Strong Punch, not a crouching one. ROBERT GARCIA a) Perform the following command when close to your opponent: --O, (release), Strong Punch <Robert will throw a Strong Punch> b) Then, quickly perform the following command during the animation frames of the initial Strong Punch: O-- / | \ --O + Strong Punch O O O <Robert will continue to extend his arm for a second hit> Alternately, Robert can perform his multi-hit like so: a) Perform the following command when close to your opponent: |, (release), Strong Punch O <Robert will throw a Strong Punch> b) Then, quickly perform the following command during the animation frames of the initial Strong Punch: --O \ | / O-- + Strong Punch O O O <Robert will continue to extend his arm for a second hit> As with his first multi-hit, you must do both steps quickly, before the animation frames end. Robert has THREE multi-hits; the two listed above, and Chang's, which Robert can perform in the same way. When done, he will perform a rising uppercut that hits twice. RYO SAKAZAKI Do his multi-hit just like either of Robert's, but _hold_ Strong Punch instead of tapping it for step B. Ryo will extend his arm for three hits total. If you just tap SP once, he will only hit twice. Ryo can also perform Chang's multi-hit (meaning that he has three of them as well as Robert), but he only gets two hits even if Strong Punch is held instead of tapped. When done, he performs a rising fist while kneeling that hits twice. Don't be too slow or you'll do the Moko Raijin Ko instead! YURI SAKAZAKI Yuri can use Robert's first multi-hit, but it must be done _very_ quickly considering how fast she is. You'll do the Hundred Blows Attack if you're too sloppy, so practice this one a lot! If you do it correctly, Yuri's arcing, rising fist will connect twice. THE POWER GAUGE ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This bar, located at the bottom of the screen, tells you how much Power energy you and your opponent currently have. POW energy can be gained in two ways: by 'charging up' your POW energy manually, and by getting attacked (attacks don't have to connect to increase POW energy; they can be blocked). Eventually, the Power Gauge will become maxed out and turn blue. During this time, several things happen: - You gain the ability to use both the Guard Cancel Emergency Evade Front and Back (doesn't decrease POW energy). - Your attacks inflict more damage/are delivered with more force. - You have the option of performing the Desperation Move (DM). - If your life is less than two sections, the Super Desperation Move (SDM) is available as well. Once the Power Gauge is full, it begins to diminish rapidly, meaning that unless you use the benefits of having a full bar quickly, you'll be out of luck. You still have all of the above abilities as long as the bar is maxed out (even if there is only a sliver of blue left in the bar). The rate that POW energy decreases depends on various factors. As a general rule, though, it decreases slower if charged manually, and faster if charged via special moves. While maxed out, the Power Gauge can only be emptied by performing a DM or SDM. At any other time, the Power Gauge can be partially depleted if the other player performs a taunt. Repeated taunts can completely empty a bar, but have no effect on the amount of energy remaining in a maxed out Power Gauge. You may notice that a maxed out Power Gauge looks different depending on whether you have little life left or not; it doesn't have any bearing on the game, though. DESPERATION MOVES ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Each character's life bar (located at the top of the screen) consists of six and one-half segments. Obviously, this bar lets you know how much life you have left and how much damage an attack has inflicted upon you. When the life bar is empty, you lose the round. Like the Power Gauge, though, the life bar has an important purpose; when it is reduced to less than 2 sections it starts flashing red. This is known as the 'desperation period' because a player starts getting pretty desperate--he's almost finished, after all! During the desperation period, you can perform a Desperation Move without having to use POW energy. What's more, you can continue to use the DM over and over, since the life bar doesn't diminish (unless you get hit, of course!) If you do max out your Power Gauge, then performing a DM makes you do a special version called the SDM; such moves usually have a better range, hit more times, inflict more damage, etc. An example of this would be Kagura's DM, the Zero Tactics' Ishizue. Normally, this move makes her walk forward and attack for six hits. If done as an SDM, the move makes her walk almost all the way across the screen and she can hit up to thirty times! The advantages of SDMs should be apparent now. However, the ability to use DMs and SDMs are the only advantages to having low life. You don't inflict extra damage or gain new rolls, etc. This doesn't mean that entering the desperation period is bad; although you have low life, you also become significantly more deadly than before. In some situations, it may be an advantage to let yourself lose enough life to gain desperation abilities! An interesting note: many of the 'one-hit, knockdown' type DMs and SDMs can juggle for two hits if the opponent jumps toward them while in the corner. Examples of these include Athena's Shining Crystal Bit, Chin's Go Ran En Po, Choi's Shin! Chozetsu Tatsumaki Shinkuu Zan, Geese's Rising Storm, and Kyo's Orochi Nagi. GUARD BREAK AND COUNTERS ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Surprisingly, SNK has removed the overheads found in KOF '95; these attacks could be used to injure a person who was crouch blocking. Replacing it is the 'guard break' concept, which is the same for everyone. It states that if an opponent repeatedly blocks attacks (of any kind), he will eventually be hit by an attack even if he is trying to block. Simply put, a blocking opponent will be hit after blocking ten or so times rapidly. This does not affect each block, only repeated blocks (like when you block a multi-hit move, such as Terry's Rising Tackle). As cheap as this sounds, the hit character only receives marginal damage and cannot be hit more than once, even if the move can hit multiple times. Any attack can guard break, except for certain DMs/SDMs. Some guys can be really aggressive with the guard break concept, like Kim or Choi (using the Hishou Kyaku repeatedly guarantees a guard break after 2-3 attempts). Opposite to guard breaks are counters, of which there are two types. The first type can be done by anyone: attack while being attacked. Whether this is a normal attack, special move, or knockdown depends on the character and the type of attack used. Although risky, counters are an alternative to blocking (risking a guard break), or rolling (which is sometimes too short a distance to escape an attack). Some moves, like Ralf's Gatling Attack, work very well as a counter. Depending on what type of move you're using, it's possible to get a Rush combo or critical hit _and_ a counter at the same time. The second type of counter is the 'automatic' kind, that only Kasumi and Geese can use. When the counter is performed, they get in a defensive stance for a half-second. If they are attacked during this time, they take no damage and reverse the attack, injuring their opponent. Unlike 'attack' counters, the automatic counters are only effective against certain attacks (only mid-level, only high, etc.) Kyo's Nue Tsumi can be used like an 'automatic' counter, but differs from other counters in that it still inflicts damage whether it counters or not. ========================================================================= 6. GAME MODES AND OPTIONS ========================================================================= The following options appear at the MODE SELECT screen after you press Start: TEAM PLAY ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the classic KOF battle. Pick three characters and then fight against nine other teams and the two bosses to become the King of Fighters. During Team Play, the teams you face will either be the normal teams or they'll all be edited teams (excluding the Boss Team, which never splits up). TEAM VS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just like TEAM PLAY, but you can fight a friend. SINGLE PLAY ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This pits the character of your choice against one member of each team (and the two bosses), meaning that you must go through eleven battles to beat the game. Instead of fighting one round, you must win two rounds to win the match. You begin each round with a full life bar instead of having to earn it back. SINGLE VS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just like SINGLE PLAY, but you can fight a friend. Unlike SINGLE PLAY, all life is totally restored for both players after each round and each match. SURVIVOR ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This mode nothing more than an improved version of the SINGLE ALL mode from KOF '95. Like SINGLE PLAY, you play with one character, and can only regain life at the end of each round, but you must fight entire teams (thankfully, in normal, one-round matches) before going on to face the bosses. Like TEAM PLAY, your rival teams may be standard, or they may be 'edited' teams. In this mode, the amount of time it takes you to beat the game is shown and counted on-screen, not to mention the number of enemies you have left to kill. If you win, you can enter your initials. Afterwards, you have the option of loading data for your highest score each time you play. The character's name, score, and amount of time it took to beat the entire Survivor battle is listed. You can enter your initials if your score is high enough after you beat Goenitz (or are killed). The top five highest scores appear after the demo at the start of the game. OPTION ------------------------------------------------------------------------- You can select each option by pressing Up or Down, and scroll through the choices available (if applicable) by pressing Left, Right, A, or B. The available options are: LEVEL SELECT Determines the game's difficulty. Choose from 1-BEGINNER to 8-EXPERT. PLAY TIME Changes the speed of the timer. Choose from 1-SLOW to 5-FAST. LANGUAGE Choose from JAPANESE, ENGLISH, SPANISH, or PORTUGUESE. This option affects the opening demo, win quotes, and endings only. PLAY STYLE Choose from NORMAL, SIMPLE, or SPECIAL (see the PLAY STYLE section for more details). PAD SET Lets you assign the four attack buttons to X, Y, A or B on your control pad. STAGE SELECT Determines the stage you fight at in TEAM VS. or SINGLE VS. mode. Choose from OFF (the stage is randomly chosen) to 0A GOENITZ. MEMORY CHECK The game takes a few seconds to check the memory of your Saturn. EXIT Returns you to the MODE SELECT screen. DEMO SELECT Appears when you beat the game without dying. Consult the GAME SECRETS section for more details. All options are automatically saved to memory (you must erase your game's memory to disable DEMO SELECT, delete any high scores, or return the options to default). PLAY STYLE ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Normally, the controller's buttons have no function except for X, Y, A, and B. In the Option menu, you can go into PLAY STYLE and change the functions of C, Z, L, and R as well. This is how the other two options work: SIMPLE STYLE ------------------------------------------------------------------------- With this style activated, pressing C causes the Knockdown Attack (which can be used while standing or jumping), pressing Z makes you perform the Retreat Roll (if you hold forward and press Z, you'll do the Forward Roll), pressing L makes you Taunt, and pressing R makes you do the Manual POW Charge for as long as R is held down. SPECIAL STYLE ------------------------------------------------------------------------- When this style is activated, C, Z, L, and R all perform special moves when they are pressed (think KOF '95 for PSX). (2) Performs the Phoenix Arrow if used in mid-air, and performs the Crystal Shoot pressed while using the Shining Crystal Bit DM or SDM. (3) Performs the Ryu Sou Gaki if used in mid-air. (4) Can be used during the Bougetsu Sui. (5) The Light Punch version is used. (6) Performs the Musasabi no Mai if used in mid-air. (7) Can only be used in mid-air. (8) Can be repeated three times (but will only combo for 6 hits). (9) Performs the Ravenous if used in mid-air. (10) The Strong Kick version is used. (11) This is a Desperation Move that requires POW energy to use. You cannot make one of the above four buttons do a special move other than what they have been programmed to perform, and they will not have any function (i.e. a normal attack) if done while jumping (unless the special move can be done in mid-air). If pressed while crouching, the special move will be done normally. Keep in mind that some moves will not work unless you're close to your opponent. Also, moves that have more than one sequence (like Mature's Death Row) can be done by pressing the button that does the first attack repeatedly. All moves are done with Strong Attack, unless the move itself uses one button or is otherwise noted. ========================================================================= 7. REVISION HISTORY ========================================================================= v1.0 - All moves in, as well as the # of hits per move. Several codes/tricks as well as sections on gameplay. v1.1 - Juggle chart for Kyo's Nue Tumi added, as well as Kim's double-hit. Included info on Kyo's SDM, SDMs in general, and two more glitches. Also made various corrections. v1.2 - Now found in a new location, too (look at the top of the FAQ!) v1.3 - Added information about Survivor Mode scores. More corrections/mistakes fixed. v1.4 - The moveslist has been completely redone, and so other sections have been changed, too. This information comes from the KOF '96 manual and my KOF '97 FAQ. ========================================================================= 8. AUTHOR'S NOTE ========================================================================= A note on the setup of this FAQ -- I'm only using 'him, he' and so on because it's faster to type. No offense is intended towards female gamers. Also, the number of hits per move in 'THE TEAMS' section is for _each hit_. For example, Iori's Deadly Flower hits three times, but only once per hit, which is why 1/1 is given instead of 3/3. The same applies to Mature's Death Row. Always remember; if there is a combo/juggle/special move that doesn't seem to work or inflict the listed number of hits, keep in mind that your location, size of your opponent, and whether or not you're maxed out or not can all affect what's going on. Everything in this FAQ has been tested repeatedly to make sure it works. I had a lot of fun making this FAQ because KOF '96 is such an enjoyable game. Anyone who doesn't yet own an import game should really consider picking this one up, since you can make the game display messages in English or other languages, (not that it's that important in a fighting game...) which is a nice touch. If you already own a RAM cart, then you can purchase KOF '96 for even less. (If you don't own one, and don't own KOF '95 either, then get the double-pack! Awright!!) This game will probably surface in the US on the PlayStation, but Saturn owners will be better off getting this game, since SNK seems to have a policy against Saturn conversions appearing stateside.
