Metal Gear Solid Integral VR Disc FAQ (Updated) Written by: Ahmad Rizudin Izzudin. Date written: 4rd July 1999. Time written: 20:45 Malaysian time. (I don't know what the GMT is right now) Time finished: 22:15 Malaysian time. Looks like I got an update!! Thanks to Kevin (phatee@home.com) who's completed 76.8% of MGS Integral!! Keep up the good work, pal!! Oh, BTW, Kevin, please tell me where you are, maybe we could discuss some tactics later on....FYI, I'm a Malay guy from Malaysia. Again, I should remind you that this FAQ is based on the Japanese edition which has already hit Malaysian shores by now. Now, this FAQ is 76.8% complete - which is now based on Kevin's percentage. And now.... With about 300 missions (quoted from IGN), Integral's VR Disc is the best by my standards! (I don't know about what other people say.) There are 4 major modes to MGS:Integral's VR Disc. These modes are: I. Sneaking Mode. II. Weapon Mode. III. Advanced Mode. IV. Special Mode. The 1st mode is self-explanatory - almost. For those of you who have the original MGS, this mode used to have 10 levels, which went from: 1. Practice Mode. 2. Time Attack Mode. 3. Gun Shooting Mode. 4. Survival Mode. 5. (Technical Demo - only if you cleared the 4 modes above.) This time around, the Sneaking Mode has 5 additional levels and 2 different skill modes. Observe the following: No Weapon | {Practice} -------------------+------------- {Time Attack} | Socom The closed brackets indicate selectable options after you have chosen your mode - unarmed or armed with a Socom pistol. {Practice} and {Time Attack} levels number 15 in total - 10 from MGS and 5 new ones. Note that you won't be able to access {Time Attack} levels for either mode (unarmed or armed with a Socom) unless you clear all 15 {Practice} levels for each. Also, the Socom will not be available to you unless you clear all 15 No Weapon - {Practice} levels. Note: A major difference (not too important, but good to know) is that once you do get the Socom Mode, you won't be pressed for time in the {Practice} levels for it. (compare this against the originsl MGS VR Training). By clearing No Weapon - {Practice} and Socom - {Practice} modes, 10% will be counted towards your completion of your training, with 5% for each mode. Clear the No Weapon - {Time Attack} and Socom - {Time Attack} modes, and you will gain an extra 10%. If you can do that, that is - I didn't. Tell me if you do. The 2nd mode - Weapon Mode - lets you use any weapons from Solid Snake's arsenal - I've forgotten their order, but here are the weapons: 1. Socom pistol. (Cleared) 2. Famas machine gun. (Cleared before - no contribution to my 25.6%) 3. Grenade. (Cleared) 4. C4 plastic explosive. (Cleared) 5. Claymore anti-personnel mine. (Cleared) 6. PSG1 sniper rifle. (Cleared by Kevin) 7. Nikita remote-controlled missile launcher. (Cleared) 8. Stinger homing missile launcher. (Cleared by Kevin) Each of these has both a {Practice} mode and a {Time Attack} mode, with 5 missions in each. I cleared out 5 weapons in {Practice} mode, but I haven't used {Time Attack} yet. In this mode, your targets will be either green or red crystals, which mean: Red - Explosive. Shoot at close range to either die or go to heaven. If you see red crystals in a row, shoot one to detonate all of them. Green - Safe. However, to maximise removal of these crystals, especially with C4s and Claymores, ensure that more than one crystal is within explosion range (with C4s) or laser range (with Claymores). The 3rd mode is Advanced Mode. This mode is an extension of Weapon Mode, and instead of targets, you will be targetting enemy soldiers. From my point of view, you might have trouble with the Nikita in this mode. I've forgotten whether or not there's a {Time Attack} mode here. And now, the 4th mode - Special Mode. Thanks to Kevin, 3 more additional options are open - Mystery, Puzzle and Variety - but I don't know about what they are just yet. I haven't checked these new options yet - my Playstation's down and I only got my 25.6% after playing MGS Integral in a store somewhere. Pre-Requisites: 1. No Weapon (Vs. Enemy) - clear all {Sneaking Mode} - {No Weapon} levels to gain this option. 2. Other Weapons (Vs. Target) - clear any 5 {Weapon Mode} levels of the same weapon to gain this option. 3. Other Weapons (Vs. Enemy} - clear any 5 {Advanced Mode} levels of the same weapon to gain this option. 4. Mystery, Puzzle, and Variety - clear all {Sneaking Mode} levels, all {Weapon Mode} levels, and all {Advanced Mode} levels to gain these options. (Updated by Kevin!!) Also, once the 4th pre-requisite is complete, return to the title screen, and the Extra option will now have an extra movie, and a photography session with Mei Ling, and you can modify any pictures you take. (Info from Kevin!! Thanx a lot!!) Percentage Consideration: (My update - merely a guess, I believe.) 1. {Sneaking Mode} - {No Weapon} - {Practice} - 15 stages (5%) - {No Weapon} - {Time Attack} - 15 stages (5%) - {Socom} - {Practice} - 15 stages (5%) - {Socom} - {Time Attack} - 15 stages (5%) Clear Total: 60 stages (20%) 2. {Weapon Mode} - {Socom} - {Practice} - 5 stages - {Famas} - {Practice} - 5 stages - {Grenade} - {Practice} - 5 stages - {C4} - {Practice} - 5 stages - {PSG1} - {Practice} - 5 stages - {Claymore} - {Practice} - 5 stages - {Nikita} - {Practice} - 5 stages - {Stinger} - {Practice} - 5 stages - {Socom} - {Time Attack} - 5 stages - {Famas} - {Time Attack} - 5 stages - {Grenade} - {Time Attack} - 5 stages - {C4} - {Time Attack} - 5 stages - {PSG1} - {Time Attack} - 5 stages - {Claymore} - {Time Attack} - 5 stages - {Nikita} - {Time Attack} - 5 stages - {Stinger} - {Time Attack} - 5 stages Clear Total: 80 stages (about 26.6% or 26.7%) 3. {Advanced Mode} - {Socom} - {Practice} - 5 stages - {Famas} - {Practice} - 5 stages - {Grenade} - {Practice} - 5 stages - {C4} - {Practice} - 5 stages - {PSG1} - {Practice} - 5 stages - {Claymore} - {Practice} - 5 stages - {Nikita} - {Practice} - 5 stages - {Stinger} - {Practice} - 5 stages Clear Total: 40 stages (about 13.3%) 4. {Special Mode} (1 Min.
